New Year, Same Resilience: A Reflection for 2025

As the calendar turns to a new year, I find myself reflecting not just on where I’ve been, but on who I’ve become. For so many of us, the journey hasn’t been easy. It’s been a road filled with challenges, stereotypes, and expectations we never asked to carry. Yet, here we are—still standing, still rising, still unbreakable.

This new year, I want to remind you, my sisters, that we are more than what the world tries to label us. We are not just “angry Black women.” Our anger, when it exists, is not something to be ashamed of—it is righteous, rooted in love for ourselves, our families, and our communities. But even more than that, we are women of resilience, creativity, and grace. We are mothers, daughters, dreamers, and doers who continue to rise despite the odds stacked against us.

2025 is not about survival—it’s about thriving. It’s about walking unapologetically in our power and refusing to shrink for anyone or anything. This year, I challenge us all to redefine what freedom and happiness mean for us as individuals. To break free from the stereotypes that have tried to cage us and embrace the fullness of who we are.

Support Black Women

Let’s step boldly into this year with the confidence that we are worthy—of love, success, rest, and joy. Let’s leave behind the idea that our worth is tied to how much we can endure. Instead, let’s lean into healing, into softness, and into the dreams we’ve placed on the backburner for too long.

As I prepare to release my book, “I’m Not Just Another Angry Black Woman,” in February, I’m reminded of the importance of telling our stories. Our stories matter. Our experiences matter. Our voices matter. This book is my love letter to Black women everywhere—a testament to our strength, a celebration of our beauty, and a call to reclaim our narratives.

So, as we step into 2025, let’s do so with intention. Let’s honor our past without being bound by it. Let’s embrace our present while building a future that reflects our deepest desires. And most importantly, let’s remember that we are not alone. Together, we are a force. Together, we rise.

Here’s to a year of love, healing, and unapologetic flourishing.

Happy New Year, sisters—let’s make it a year to remember.

With love and strength,

Lakeysha
