To the caretakers, the eldest daughters, the nurturers, and the “go-to” girls…
💔 The Weight of Always Holding It Together
You were praised for your strength before you even understood what it cost.
You held space for everyone else — their pain, their mess, their healing — and you rarely had the same space in return.
People got so used to leaning on you, they forgot you needed support too.
But sis, hear me loud: being strong isn’t your personality. It’s a survival response.
🧠 Strength That Burns You Out Isn’t Noble — It’s Unfair
Yes, you’ve carried generations.
Yes, you’ve been the glue.
But strength without rest becomes resentment.
Caregiving without care for yourself becomes depletion.
You are not here to be everybody’s emergency contact, emotional dumping ground, or unpaid therapist.
You are worthy of softness, silence, and sanctuary.
🛑 It’s Okay to Say “I Can’t Today”
Being the strong one doesn’t mean saying “yes” when your body is breaking down.
It doesn’t mean absorbing pain to keep the peace.
It doesn’t mean holding back tears to stay “unbothered.”
Real strength?
Is choosing you when no one else does.
It’s letting people figure it out without sacrificing your peace.
It’s crying. Releasing. Saying no and meaning it.
🔄 Reclaiming Your Identity
You’re not just the strong friend.
You’re the artist, the lover, the nurturer, the divine daughter of God.
You’re allowed to ask for help.
You’re allowed to want more.
You’re allowed to not always have the answers.
Let’s normalize softness. Let’s value joy just as much as sacrifice.
You were never meant to do this all alone.
Not spiritually. Not emotionally. Not practically.
📿 A Prayer for You, Sis
Dear God,
Give me permission to rest.
Untangle the lies that tell me my worth is in my work.
Teach me to honor my humanity — not just my hustle.
And when I forget, remind me:
Even Jesus rested.
Amen.
