A Soulful Sunday reflection on shame, healing, and receiving unconditional love
Sis… there are parts of us we show the world.
The strong parts.
The confident parts.
The successful parts.
But then there are the hidden places —
the ones we quietly hope nobody sees.
The mistakes we regret.
The memories that still sting.
The insecurities we carry in silence.
The wounds we pretend are healed.
Those are the places that whisper,
“This part of me is too broken to be loved.”
But the truth is — those are the exact places God wants to reach.
Shame Tells You to Hide
Shame has a voice.
It tells you:
You should have known better. You messed up too badly. People wouldn’t understand if they knew. God must be disappointed in you.
So we hide.
Not just from people, but sometimes from God too.
We pray politely.
We show up spiritually composed.
We pretend we’re okay.
But healing never begins in hiding.
Healing begins in honesty.
God Already Knows the Parts You’re Hiding
Sis… God is not surprised by your wounds.
He knows the mistakes you replay in your mind.
He knows the moments you wish you could erase.
He knows the rejection that shaped your self-worth.
And yet — He stays.
God does not withdraw from brokenness.
He moves toward it.
Where shame tells you to hide,
God invites you to come closer.
Love That Doesn’t Require Perfection
Many of us learned love that was conditional.
Love that depended on performance.
Love that disappeared when we failed.
Love that made us feel like we had to be “good enough.”
But God’s love is different.
It does not disappear when you fall.
It does not shrink when you struggle.
It does not demand perfection.
God’s love meets you where you are
and gently restores what life damaged.
Letting Yourself Be Loved Is Part of Healing
Sometimes the hardest part of healing
is not forgiving others.
It’s believing we are still worthy of love.
But sis… you are not disqualified.
Your past does not cancel your value.
Your mistakes do not erase your purpose.
Your wounds do not make you unlovable.
God is not waiting for you to become perfect.
He is simply waiting for you to let Him love you —
right where you are.
Scripture Meditation
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8
God didn’t wait for perfection.
He loved you in the middle of the mess.
Affirmations for This Season
✨ I am loved even in my imperfect places.
✨ God’s love reaches the parts of me I try to hide.
✨ My past does not define my worth.
✨ I allow myself to receive healing and grace.
✨ I am worthy of love, restoration, and peace.
Closing Word
Sis… the parts of you that feel the most unlovable
are the parts God wants to heal the most.
You don’t have to hide your wounds.
You don’t have to pretend you’re perfect.
You don’t have to carry shame forever.
Let God love you in the places that still hurt.
That’s where healing begins. 🤎
