The Little Girl Inside You Still Wears Her Skinned Knees
Sis, imagine you as a child again—full of dreams, laughter, and trust, but also carrying those hurts you thought you forgot. That little girl may have grown up, but she still lives inside you. Her wounded parts can show up as self-doubt, people-pleasing, fear of being seen, or a voice that whispers, “I’m not safe to be myself.”
What if I told you God wants to come in and re-parent her? He’s not waiting for you to fix that little girl first. He’s not standing by tapping His foot saying, “Hurry up, heal so you’re worthy.” No — He’s already kneeling beside her, saying, “I’ve got you, baby. I see you. You’re safe with Me.”
💖 Why Healing Your Inner Child Matters
When your inner child feels unseen, unresolved, or unsafe, it seeps into your adult life. According to the concept of inner child work, wounds from childhood — what child-you experienced and what child-you needed — continue influencing your adult thoughts, reactions, and relationships.
From a Christian lens: the Bible doesn’t use the phrase “inner child,” per se—but it does show us a Father who welcomes broken children into His arms.
When you let God re-parent your wounds, you’re allowing the One who knew you from before you were born to heal what time and trauma tried to break.
🌸 How to Let God Re-parent Your Wounds (Step-by-Step)
1. Anchor in His Safety
Close your eyes, imagine your childhood (or simply your younger self), and bring that part of you to God. Feel His arms around her. Because the truth is: you already have your place with Him.
2. Acknowledge the Wounds
Journal or speak out loud: “This little girl feared… she experienced… she lost…” Give her a voice and a safe space. Recognizing what happened does not mean you’re defined by it—it means you’re claiming freedom from it.
3. Attune to Her Needs
What did she need then? What does she need now? Maybe she needed safety, validation, love, to be seen, or simply a trusted adult who said, “It’s okay.” Let God whisper those things to her.
4. Act by Responding to Her
Now that you know what she needed, respond. Write a letter to little you: “You’re beloved. You’re safe. I’m here for you.” Then live in that truth. Set boundaries, choose different friends, make peace with the past.
🌼 Scripture Meditation
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28
That rest isn’t only for your adult self. It’s for your inner child, too—the one who still carries weight she shouldn’t.
💫 Affirmation for the Week
“God meets my little girl where she fell.
He loves her, holds her, and re-parents what she lost.
I receive His love now and heal with gentleness and truth.”
