✨ Scripture — Mark 6:31 (NIV)
“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, He said to them, ‘Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’”
Devotional Thought
Sis… you can be chosen and still tired.
You can be full of purpose and still feel poured out.
You can be anointed, appointed, called —
and still need a moment to breathe.
Even Jesus knew when to step back.
The Savior of the world — the One who healed the sick, delivered the oppressed, fed thousands, and taught multitudes — would often withdraw to lonely places to pray, to rest, to simply be.
And if Jesus needed rest,
what makes you think you don’t?
Sometimes the very thing you’re called to can drain you if you don’t pause long enough to refill.
Pouring into others is beautiful, but pouring from emptiness is dangerous.
Your exhaustion isn’t a sign that you’ve failed —
it’s a sign that you’ve been giving beyond capacity.
God never asked you to run nonstop.
He never asked you to be everyone’s healer, counselor, and burden-carrier.
He never asked you to trade your peace for spiritual performance.
He said,
“Come to Me, and I will give you rest.”
Rest is not optional —
rest is holy.
Rest is obedience.
Rest is spiritual warfare in a world that glorifies burnout.
Your anointing doesn’t disappear when you rest —
it deepens.
Reflection Questions
Where in my life am I pouring more than I’m receiving?
What areas of my calling feel heavy right now?
How can I create quiet spaces to meet God and refill spiritually?
🌼 Affirmation
“I am anointed, but I am human.
God restores me when I rest.
My peace and my purpose can coexist.”
💫 Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for trusting me with purpose and calling.
But today, I admit that I’m tired.
I’ve been carrying more than I should, giving more than I have, and running faster than my soul can handle.
Teach me the rhythm of rest.
Lead me to quiet places the way You led Your disciples.
Fill what has been emptied.
Strengthen what has been weary.
Remind me that You are God — and I don’t have to be.
Refresh me, restore me, and renew my strength.
In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🤎
