YOU DON’T NEED THE WHOLE PLAN — JUST THE NEXT STEP

Happy Sunday 🫶🏽

A Soulful Sunday message about trusting God when you don’t know exactly what comes next.

Sis…

Have you ever prayed for direction and felt like God gave you… almost nothing?

You asked for the full plan.

You wanted the timeline.

You wanted to know who, what, when, where, and how.

And instead, all you got was one small nudge.

One idea.

One conversation.

One door.

One step.

And if you’re anything like me, you probably wanted to say:

“Okay God… but what happens AFTER that?” 😂

Because uncertainty is uncomfortable.

We like knowing what’s coming.

We like feeling prepared.

We like having enough information to make sure we won’t make a mistake.

But faith doesn’t always come with a detailed itinerary.

Sometimes God gives you just enough light for the next step.

And that has to be enough.

🌿 YOU DON’T NEED ALL THE ANSWERS TO MOVE FORWARD

Sis, sometimes we delay ourselves because we think clarity has to come before movement.

We tell ourselves:

“I’ll start when I know exactly what I’m doing.”

“I’ll apply when I feel completely ready.”

“I’ll leave when I know what comes next.”

“I’ll say yes when I’m sure it will work.”

But what if confidence comes after obedience?

What if clarity comes while you’re moving?

What if the next step reveals the step after that?

You may never feel completely ready.

And that’s okay.

God can work with willingness.

🌿 STOP DEMANDING A MAP WHEN GOD IS OFFERING A LAMP

Psalm 119:105 says:

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

A lamp does not light the entire road.

It lights what is right in front of you.

Maybe that’s the lesson.

We keep asking God to show us five years.

And He’s saying:

“Walk with Me today.”

We want the whole answer.

He gives us enough grace for the moment.

We want certainty.

He invites us into trust.

🌿 SOMETIMES FEAR SOUNDS LIKE “I’M JUST WAITING ON GOD”

Now sis…

This part might be a little uncomfortable.

Sometimes we say we’re waiting on God when really we’re afraid to move.

Afraid to fail.

Afraid to choose wrong.

Afraid to disappoint people.

Afraid to start over.

Afraid to be seen trying.

And yes, there are absolutely seasons when God calls us to wait.

But there are also seasons when He says:

“Move.”

Not recklessly.

Not impulsively.

But faithfully.

You don’t have to know the ending to obey the next instruction.

🌿 GOD CAN REDIRECT YOU WHILE YOU’RE MOVING

One reason we become paralyzed is because we’re terrified of making the wrong choice.

But sis…

God is not standing in heaven waiting for you to accidentally ruin your whole life with one decision.

He can redirect.

He can close doors.

He can open new ones.

He can give wisdom.

He can correct your course.

Your responsibility is not to predict every outcome.

Your responsibility is to seek Him, use wisdom, and take the next faithful step.

🌿 THE NEXT STEP MAY LOOK SMALL

We often expect purpose to arrive dramatically.

But sometimes the next step is:

Send the email.

Make the phone call.

Write the first page.

Schedule the appointment.

Set the boundary.

Apply for the opportunity.

Start saving.

Go back to school.

End the conversation.

Rest.

Ask for help.

Pray again.

Small obedience can create big movement.

Do not underestimate what God can do with one faithful yes.

📖 SCRIPTURE MEDITATION

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6

Notice it doesn’t say:

“Understand everything first.”

It says:

Trust.

That means there will be moments when trust has to carry you farther than certainty can.

🌸 SOUL WORK FOR THIS WEEK

Ask yourself:

What decision have I been overthinking?

Am I truly waiting on God, or am I afraid to move?

What is one step I already know I need to take?

What would I do if I trusted that God could redirect me if necessary?

And finally:

What if I stopped asking for the whole plan and simply asked,

“God, what is my next step?”

🤎 CLOSING WORD

Sis…

You do not need to know everything.

You do not need to have the next five years figured out.

You do not need every answer before you begin.

You just need enough faith for the step in front of you.

Maybe this week isn’t about having a breakthrough.

Maybe it’s about movement.

One decision.

One conversation.

One act of obedience.

One brave little step.

And who knows?

That one step might lead to the very door you’ve been praying for.

So stop pressuring yourself to know everything.

Walk with God.

Listen.

Move when He says move.

Rest when He says rest.

And trust that the God who knows the destination is fully capable of guiding you there.

You don’t need the whole plan, sis.

Just the next step.

Happy Soulful Sunday. 🤎✨
