GOD, TEACH ME TO GIVE MYSELF GRACE
📖 SCRIPTURE
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
🌸 REFLECTION
Sis…
You know what’s interesting?
Sometimes we believe in God’s grace for everybody except ourselves.
We believe other people deserve second chances.
We understand when they’re tired.
We tell them mistakes don’t define them.
We encourage them to rest.
But when WE fall short of our own expectations, grace suddenly disappears.
We become critical.
Impatient.
Disappointed with ourselves.
But God never asked you to live under constant self-condemnation.
His grace is sufficient.
That means when your strength isn’t enough…
Grace.
When your energy isn’t enough…
Grace.
When you don’t have all the answers…
Grace.
When you make a mistake…
Grace.
When you need to start again…
Grace.
Grace doesn’t mean we stop growing.
It means we stop believing shame is required for growth.
You can acknowledge:
“I could have handled that differently.”
without saying:
“Something is wrong with me.”
You can say:
“I need to improve in this area.”
without saying:
“I’m a failure.”
You can hold yourself accountable AND still love yourself.
That is grace.
And maybe today God isn’t asking you to try harder.
Maybe He’s inviting you to stop striving long enough to receive what He’s already offering.
Rest.
Love.
Mercy.
Grace.
✨ AFFIRMATION
I give myself permission to be human. I do not have to earn rest, love, or grace. I can learn from my mistakes without condemning myself. God’s grace is sufficient for me today.
🤎 PRAYER
Father,
Thank You for Your grace.
Thank You for loving me beyond what I accomplish, produce, or get right.
Help me release the pressure to always have everything together.
When I make mistakes, teach me instead of allowing shame to consume me.
When I become overwhelmed, remind me that I can rest.
When I take on too much, give me wisdom to know what needs to be released.
Help me recognize my limitations without judging myself for having them.
Teach me to extend the same compassion to myself that I so easily give to others.
And when I begin measuring my worth by my productivity, remind me that I was worthy of Your love before I accomplished a single thing.
Give me wisdom for this week.
Help me know when to work, when to pause, when to say no, and when to simply be still.
I receive Your grace.
And with Your help, I will learn to give some of that grace to myself.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
🌿 JOURNAL PROMPT
Where have I been hardest on myself lately?
Now ask:
“If someone I loved was experiencing the exact same thing, what would I say to them?”
Write that response down.
Then read it back to yourself.
That grace belongs to you too.
🤎 SUNDAY REMINDER
Sis…
You do not have to earn the right to rest.
You do not have to be productive every second.
You do not have to get everything right.
You are human.
You are learning.
You are growing.
You are loved.
And there is grace for you here too.
Walk into this week lighter.
Do what you can.
Give God what you can’t.
And when necessary…
Take the nap. 😩😂🤎
Happy Soulful Sunday.
