GIRL TO GIRL: YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BE PROUD OF THE WOMAN YOU’RE BECOMING 💛

Happy Tuesday 🫶🏽

Hey sis…

(This supposed to be posted yesterday but I had some technical issues.)

Can we do something different today?

Can we NOT talk about everything you need to fix?

Not the weight you want to lose.

Not the money you want to make.

Not the relationship you wish you had.

Not the goals you haven’t reached.

Not the healing you’re still working through.

Not the mistakes you made.

Not everything you think you should have accomplished by now.

Today, I want you to look at yourself and say:

“GIRL… I’M PROUD OF YOU.”

And before you start listing all the reasons you don’t deserve to be proud yet…

Stop. 😂

Because some of us have gotten so used to focusing on where we’re going that we haven’t stopped long enough to appreciate the woman who got us HERE.

And sis…

She’s been through some things.

She’s learned some things.

She’s survived some things.

She’s let go of some things.

She’s cried over some things.

She’s prayed her way through some things.

And somehow…

She’s still becoming.

Let’s talk about HER. 💛

🌸 YOU ARE NOT THE SAME WOMAN YOU USED TO BE

Sometimes growth happens so gradually that you don’t notice it.

Until one day something happens that would’ve completely destroyed the old you…

And you handle it differently.

You don’t send the paragraph.

You don’t chase.

You don’t beg.

You don’t immediately assume everything is your fault.

You don’t abandon your boundaries just because somebody is upset.

You don’t stay up all night replaying the conversation.

You breathe.

You pray.

You process.

You make a decision.

And you keep moving.

Girl…

THAT IS GROWTH.

Maybe nobody clapped.

Maybe nobody noticed.

But you should.

💛 CELEBRATE THE THINGS NOBODY CAN SEE

We celebrate graduations.

Promotions.

New houses.

New cars.

Engagements.

Weddings.

Business launches.

Weight loss.

And we should!

But there are victories that don’t come with certificates or Instagram announcements.

Like finally saying no without feeling guilty for three days.

Leaving a relationship you knew wasn’t healthy.

Going to therapy.

Forgiving yourself.

Learning how to rest.

Choosing not to argue.

Paying off one little bill.

Applying for the job even though you were scared.

Going back to school.

Starting over.

Asking for help.

Learning how to enjoy your own company.

Praying again after being disappointed with God.

Getting out of bed during a season when getting out of bed felt like an accomplishment.

Girl…

Those victories count too.

👑 YOU DON’T NEED PERMISSION TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF

Some women have been taught that confidence is arrogance.

So we shrink.

We downplay our accomplishments.

Somebody says:

“You’re amazing.”

And we immediately say:

“Oh girl, no I’m not.”

Somebody compliments us.

We explain why the compliment isn’t really true.

Somebody congratulates us.

We start talking about everything we still haven’t accomplished.

Sis…

JUST SAY THANK YOU. 😂

You don’t have to insult yourself to prove you’re humble.

You can say:

“I’m proud of myself.”

“I worked hard for this.”

“I look GOOD today.”

“I’m talented.”

“I’m intelligent.”

“I’m becoming an amazing woman.”

And none of that takes anything away from anybody else.

Confidence isn’t believing you’re better than everybody.

It’s finally believing you’re not less than everybody.

YOU ARE ALLOWED TO TAKE UP SPACE

Stop shrinking yourself.

Stop making your dreams smaller so they don’t intimidate people.

Stop pretending you don’t know what you know.

Stop apologizing before you speak.

Stop watering down your personality so everybody feels comfortable.

Stop acting like your accomplishments happened by accident.

You belong in the room too.

At the table.

In leadership.

In business.

In ministry.

In the classroom.

In healthy relationships.

In spaces where decisions are being made.

Wherever God has called you to be.

Walk in there like you belong there.

Because you do.

🌿 YOUR PAST DOESN’T GET TO DECIDE WHO YOU BECOME

Maybe you’ve made mistakes.

Welcome to humanity. 😂

Maybe you stayed somewhere too long.

Trusted the wrong person.

Ignored red flags.

Made bad financial decisions.

Dropped out.

Started something and didn’t finish.

Went back to something you promised yourself you’d never return to.

Lost yourself trying to love somebody.

Maybe there’s a version of your life you wish you could redo.

But you can’t build your future while constantly punishing yourself for your past.

Take the lesson.

Keep the wisdom.

Release the shame.

The woman you were made decisions with the information, healing, maturity, and resources she had at the time.

The woman you are TODAY knows more.

So let her make different decisions.

That’s growth.

🔥 YOU STILL HAVE TIME

I don’t care if you’re 25.

35.

45.

55.

65.

Or 75.

If you’re still breathing, there are still possibilities.

Social media will have you believing you’re behind because somebody bought a house at 26, became a millionaire at 30, got married at 32, or launched a business that took off overnight.

Meanwhile you’re thinking:

“Lord… what about me?” 😩😂

Sis, somebody else’s timeline is not evidence that you’re late.

Your journey doesn’t have to look like theirs.

You can change careers.

Go back to school.

Write the book.

Start the business.

Travel.

Fall in love.

Start therapy.

Learn something new.

Create new friendships.

Discover a new dream.

You are not too old.

You are not too late.

And your best chapter doesn’t automatically have to be behind you.

💅🏽 STOP WAITING TO BECOME “HER”

You know HER.

The woman you’re always talking about becoming.

When I lose weight…

When I make more money…

When I get the house…

When I get married…

When I heal…

When my business grows…

THEN I’ll be confident.

THEN I’ll dress differently.

THEN I’ll take pictures.

THEN I’ll travel.

THEN I’ll enjoy myself.

THEN I’ll start living.

Girl…

What if becoming her starts NOW?

Maybe “her” gets up tomorrow and puts on the outfit.

Maybe “her” applies for the opportunity.

Maybe “her” sets the boundary.

Maybe “her” stops texting that man. 😭😂

Maybe “her” drinks her water, minds her business, says her prayers, and starts building the life she keeps talking about.

You don’t wake up one morning magically transformed into the woman you want to become.

You become her through the decisions you make every day.

🙏🏽 GOD ISN’T FINISHED WITH YOU

Philippians 1:6 says:

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

I love that Scripture because it reminds me:

I’m unfinished.

And unfinished doesn’t mean unsuccessful.

God is still working.

Still shaping.

Still teaching.

Still healing.

Still redirecting.

Still revealing.

Still opening.

Still closing.

Still developing parts of you that you’ll need for places you haven’t even entered yet.

So stop judging yourself like you’re the final product.

You’re still under construction.

And baby…

God knows what He’s building. 💛

🌸 YOUR SOFTNESS IS NOT WEAKNESS

You don’t have to become cold because life hurt you.

You don’t have to stop loving because somebody mishandled your heart.

You don’t have to become suspicious of everybody because someone betrayed your trust.

You can have boundaries AND remain kind.

You can be discerning AND remain hopeful.

You can be strong AND sensitive.

You can protect your heart without building a prison around it.

Don’t let what happened to you convince you to become somebody you don’t recognize.

Healing isn’t about becoming harder.

Sometimes healing is finally feeling safe enough to become soft again.

💛 YOU DESERVE TO EXPERIENCE THE LIFE YOU KEEP HELPING EVERYBODY ELSE CREATE

You encourage everybody.

You pray for everybody.

You show up.

You clap.

You give advice.

You remind everybody else who they are.

Now, sis…

What about YOU?

You deserve encouragement too.

You deserve support.

You deserve opportunities.

You deserve healthy love.

You deserve friendships where somebody checks on YOU.

You deserve rest.

You deserve joy.

You deserve mornings where your first thought isn’t anxiety.

You deserve a life that isn’t built entirely around taking care of everybody else.

You’re allowed to want more.

Not because you’re ungrateful.

Because you’re growing.

🌷 MAYBE THIS IS YOUR SEASON TO BLOOM

Not prove.

Not chase.

Not beg.

Not compete.

Not convince.

BLOOM.

Maybe this season is about becoming more intentional.

More peaceful.

More confident.

More selective.

More disciplined.

More joyful.

More connected to God.

More comfortable with yourself.

Maybe you’re entering a season where you don’t have to announce every move.

You just plant.

Water.

Pray.

Work.

Rest.

Grow.

And one day people will look at you and say:

“Something about you is different.”

And you’ll know exactly what happened.

You finally started choosing yourself too.

📝 GIRL, ASK YOURSELF..

  1. What am I genuinely proud of myself for?
  2. How have I grown emotionally over the past year?
  3. What does the woman I’m becoming no longer tolerate?
  4. What does she prioritize?
  5. What dream have I been postponing because I don’t feel “ready”?
  6. Where do I need to stop shrinking myself?
  7. What would I do differently this week if I truly believed I was capable?

And here’s the big one:

WHO AM I BECOMING?

Don’t only think about what you want to HAVE.

Think about who you want to BE.

💬 FINAL GIRL TO GIRL

Sis…

Look at you.

Seriously.

Look at you.

You survived days you thought would break you.

You’ve learned lessons you never wanted to learn.

You’ve had to start over.

You’ve had to let people go.

You’ve had to forgive.

You’ve had to rebuild.

You’ve had moments where you questioned yourself.

Moments where you questioned God.

Moments where you had absolutely NO idea what you were doing.

And yet…

Here you are.

Still dreaming.

Still trying.

Still praying.

Still learning.

Still becoming.

So maybe today isn’t the day to criticize yourself.

Maybe today is the day to honor yourself.

Tell that woman in the mirror:

“I’m proud of you.”

Not because she’s perfect.

Not because she has everything figured out.

Not because every goal has been accomplished.

But because she didn’t give up on herself.

Girl…

The woman you’re becoming deserves to meet a version of you who believed in her before everybody else could see her.

So believe in her.

Protect her.

Invest in her.

Pray for her.

Take care of her.

And most importantly…

KEEP BECOMING HER.

Because your story isn’t over.

Your dreams aren’t dead.

Your age doesn’t disqualify you.

Your past doesn’t define you.

Your mistakes don’t cancel your purpose.

And one difficult chapter does not get to determine how the entire book ends.

Sis…

There is still so much life waiting for you.

Go live it. 💛

Love,

Your Girl Keysha 💕
